Yesterday, my uncle showed us how to prepare malunggay siomai. It was my
first time to hear about it and taste it. Here I share you the ingredients and
the procedure. This may differ from other people’s +recipe because this is my
uncle’s special recipe. :D
Ingredients:
250 grams ground pork
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1/8 cup carrots, grated
1/8 cup singkamas (mexican
yam), chopped (This is optional)
2 bundles malunggay
leaves, roughly chopped
1 leeks or green onion, cut into slits
soy sauce
siomai wrapper
egg
sesame oil
calamansi extract
Procedure:
Put the ground pork inside a bowl then put the Mexican yam, carrots,
onion and spring onion, too. Next, mix the malunggay leaves, sesame oil and egg
to serve as binder or to make the ingredients stick together. Form the mixture
into balls then wrap each ball with siomai wrapper then place them in the
steamer and steam for about 15 minutes.
For the sauce, mix the calamansi extract, soy sauce and sesame oil.
After 15 minutes, malunggay siomai is now ready to serve. Enjoy!
